Farmers in Perawas Village Celebrate First Harvest of Trisakti Rice

There were smiles all around in Dusun Kelekak Usang, Perawas Village, on February 14, as farmers celebrated their first harvest of Trisakti rice.  The harvest, covering five hectares, was part of the Farm Field Day programme—a project designed to help farmers grow their skills and boost their harvests using modern farming techniques.

This year, the farmers worked with the Trisakti rice variety, known for its higher yield, and used Google Microbes (Migo) technology, which helps improve soil health. Bambang Eko, the chairman of the Setia Kawan Farmers Group, couldn’t be happier with the results. “We’re very satisfied with how things turned out. The new techniques, from soil prep to planting and maintenance, along with financial support, have really paid off,” he said. “We’re excited to share our success and inspire other farmer groups to try these methods.”

Before adopting these new techniques, rice productivity in the area was around 2.64 tonnes per hectare. But with Trisakti rice and Migo technology, the Setia Kawan group saw their yield jump to 3.45 tonnes per hectare—an impressive increase of more than 30%.

Destika Efenly, Head of the Food Security and Agriculture Office (DKPP), stressed the importance of working together to keep improving. “Good results come from collaboration, constant learning, and staying updated with the latest farming technology,” she said.

Looking ahead, the Trisakti rice programme is expected to continue boosting productivity, spreading to other villages, and helping farmers grow in new ways. The goal is not just higher yields but a healthier, more sustainable farming system.

Since 2024, the Belitung Regency government has been backing the Trisakti rice variety, known for its quick harvest and high yield. Plus, the farming methods use Migo technology and avoid harmful pesticides, making it a healthier choice for consumers. This initiative is a step toward improving rice production and ensuring food security across Belitung Regency.
